Tucked away in the dramatic Dumfries and Galloway countryside is Cairlnea Holiday Cottage, a beautiful detatched self-catering cottage on the southern tip of Galloway Forest Park. Recently refurbished to an exceptionally high standard, we are sure you will enjoy staying in our idyllic retreat.
The cottage is just 5 minutes walk from Kirroughtree Visitor Centre which offers outdoor activities for all the family. There are lovely waymarked walks through the forest, a fantastic children's adventure playground, a tea room, an easy access trail around the Bruntis Loch (see above photo) and the exciting as well as the renowed 7 stanes mountain bike trails for the more adventurous!
The cottage is perfectly located for exploring the Solway Coast, the Galloway Hills and peaceful lochs. Newton Stewart is just 10 minutes drive and picturesque Portpatrick with its quaint streets, interesting shops and crab sandwiches is within easy distance. If you want to go further afield, you can even go to Northern Ireland for the day by ferry from Stranraer.
